Providence, RI, January 5, 2016 — The Rhode Island Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) announced the 2015-2016 Design Awards during the RIASLA Holiday & Awards Party in Newport, RI on December 10th. Four Merit Awards, Three Honor Awards, and Five Special Recognition Awards were presented during the evening’s ceremonies.
Kate Field & Associates received the first Merit Award for Bridge House in Small Scale Built Design. BETA Group received two merit awards, one for the Washington Pedestrian Bridge in Large Scale Built Design and one for Veterans Memorial Park in Planning and Analysis. The fourth Merit Award was presented to Searle Design Group for Swan Point Cemetery Office Complex Renovations & Additions in Large Scale Built Work.
L + A Landscape Architecture received a Special Recognition Award in Communications for Gardens of Suzhou, as well as Honor awards for City Walk in Planning and Analysis and Kiruna New Town Hall as an On The Boards project. An Honor Award was also given to Veri | Waterman Associates for Pvt. James H Quinn Square in Large Scale Built Design.
In addition to presenting the design awards, four Special Recognition awards were given out to chapter members for their dedication to the RIASLA.
Kurt Van Dexter and Jenn Judge both received a Special Recognition award for Chapter Communications & RI Parking Day, Sallie Sirhal received a Special Recognition for her years of service working on the RI Chapter Newsletter, and Karen Beck received a special recognition award for her 30 Years of Continued Dedication to RIASLA
The 2015-2016 awards were juried by the Southern California Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
