Anova Furnishings is asking emerging professionals to submit a short essay and a quick napkin sketch between April 13 and May 14, 2018 and are awarding $2,000 grants toward conference expenses to the 21 best responses.

Early career designers: Applications are now being accepted for DesignxRI’s Design Forward RI Emerge program.
DESIGN FORWARD RI (DFWD) is a comprehensive strategy to strengthen and support design sector skills, talent pipelines, and career trajectories in Rhode Island. Nominated and/or approved by Rhode Island employers, designers take a deep-dive into concepts which reinforce critical thinking skills and application in the business of design.
DFWD Emerge is for recent design graduates (up to 2 years post-graduation) launching their careers. The 2018 Spring program runs five-months and begins in March 2018. Nominate a member of your team or apply below. Application closes February 12.

Providence, RI, December 14, 2017 — The Rhode Island Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) announced the 2016-2017 Design Awards during the RIASLA Holiday & Awards Party in Pawtucket, RI on December 6th. Two Merit Awards, One Honor Award, One Student Award and Two Special Recognition Awards were presented during the evening’s ceremonies.
L + A Landscape Architecture received a Merit Award in Communications for The Driverless City Project. BETA Group received a Merit Award for Bushnell Park North in Large Scale Built Design. An Honor Award was given to Kate Field & Associates for Verbena in Small Scale Built Design. A Student Award was given to Rebecca Nolan for Under the Surface: Hidden Dimensions of Drainage Landscapes. In addition to presenting the design awards, two Special Recognition awards were given out to chapter members. Adam Anderson received a Special Recognition award for 10,000 Suns. Nathan Socha received a Special Recognition for his 5 Years of Continued Dedication to RIASLA.
The 2017-2018 awards were juried by the St. Louis of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
